The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team is now 9-1 following a sweep of visiting Buchanan Friday afternoon.
The Chieftains took both ends of the doubleheader by the identical 14-0 score.
Dowagiac scored five runs in the first, two in the second and seven in the third to account for its scoring in the opening game.
Dowagiac finished with 14 hits, led by Schuyler File who was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Scott Wilkinson was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. Jesse Cox was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
Jordan Huey, who earned the mound victory, was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs. David Stuppy had two doubles and an RBI.
Brandon Simmons was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, while Stuppy was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
JoAngel Goins tossed a no-hitter with four strikeouts for his first victory of the season.
