Brandywine wins Adams tourney

For the second week in a row, the Brandywine softball team won a tournament south of the state line. The Bobcats, now 11-1 and ranked No. 4 in Divisioin 3, claimed the crown at the South Bend Adams Tournament Saturday.
Brandywine beat the host Eagles 2-1 in the title game after beating Michigan City 6-5 and Boone Grove 12-0 earlier in the day.
Nicki McGowen earned all three victories for Brandywine, improving to 11-1 on the year. She struck out 32 batters on the day, including 11 in the championship game, and gave up 10 hits in all. McGowen threw a no-hitter against Boone Grove.
Nakisha Washington and Lauren Heyn each had five hits on the day. Washington hit a home run against Michigan City and a triple against Boone Grove. Heyn doubled against Michigan City.
Jessica Keeton tripled against Adams while Michelle Shoemaker hit a triple against Boone Grove and a double against Michigan City.
The Bobcats travel to Edwardsburg Tuesday for a Lakeland Conference doubleheader.
