Brandywine remains perfect in league play

Nicki McGowen threw a no-hitter in the first game and allowed just one hit in the second as the Brandywine softball team swept a Lakeland Conference doubleheader at Berrien Springs Thursday afternoon with wins of 13-0 and 7-1.
McGowen improved to 8-1 as did the team which is also 4-0 in league play. Berrien Springs dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Brittany Bennett hit a double and a single for three RBIs to lead Brandywine at the plate in the first game. Emily Christiansen added three singles and one RBI while Nakisha Washington tripled.
In the second game Jessica Keeton hit a single and a double for one RBI to pace the Bobcats.
Lauren Heyn hit a pair of singles for one RBI and Washington doubled to bring in one run. Bennett hit another double in the second game as well.
Brandywine is scheduled to play in the South Bend Adams Tournament Saturday at 9 a.m.
