Chieftains cruise past Brandywine

The Dowagiac varsity soccer team remained undefeated and unscored upon as it blanked host Brandywine 9-0 Wednesday evening in Niles.
The Chieftains (2-0) gave up just eight shots on goal with senior Stephanie Cooper stopping five of them to pick up her second straight shutout.
Dowagiac led just 2-0 at halftime, but scored seven times in the second half to break open the close match.
Boyd opened the scoring at the 4:53 mark of the first half. Boyd then scored at the 8:23 mark to make it 2-0 at the intermission for the Chieftains.
Danielle Stanton opened the second half scoring in the 51st minute before Boyd sandwiched Hillary Bissnett's goal with her final two tallies.
Boyd scored in the 52nd minute with an assist from Jessup. Bissnett scored an unassisted goal in the 57th minute before Boyd scored again in the 62nd minute.
Katie Brosnan scored in the 70th minute before Bissnett tallied again, this time in the 72nd minute.
Amanda Schilling completed the scoring in the 77th minute.
