Buchanan tennis wins second tourney

The Buchanan varsity tennis team won its second tournament of the season with a victory at the Almont Medal Invitational in Almont.
The Bucks, ranked No. 2 in Division 4, scored 22 points to take the trophy.
Almont finished second with 16 points while Detroit DeLaSalle finished third with nine and Allen Park Cabrini finished fourth with one.
Buchanan won six of eight flights Saturday, led by senior No. 1 singles player Bryce Coward who is now 96-6 for his career.
Other flight champions for the Bucks included No. 2 singles player Ryan Evick, No. 3 singles player Sean Jesse, No. 4 singles player A.J. Mottl, No. 1 doubles players Brandon Schmeling and Chad VanLue and No. 2 doubles players Alex Flood and Alex Gordon.
The Buchanan No. 3 doubles team of Doug Summers and Mike Otwell finished second as did No. 4 doubles players Patrik Kubala and Korey Camp.
The Bucks, which are just 1-0 in dual matches this season, travel to Berrien Springs Wednesday for their first Lakeland Conference match.
