South Bend Clay spoiled the Brandywine baseball team's season opener Thursday afternoon, beating the Bobcats 6-1.
Kory Bridges took the pitching loss for the Bobcats which play a doubleheader Saturday at noon against Niles at Thomas Stadium.
The Brandywine junior varsity dropped a 21-1 decision to the Colonials.

The Buchanan baseball team won a thriller in its first game of the season, outlasting Bridgman 8-7 in extra innings.
Kyle Tracey started on the mound for the Bucks and was relieved by P.J. Pollock in the sixth inning. Brandon Godsey came on in the seventh to earn the victory.
The Bucks scored one run in the bottom of the eighth inning to break the 7-7 tie.
Josh Wahlstrom, Casey Sandoval and Pollock each had a double for Buchanan.
The Bucks play in the Bronson Invitational Saturday.
