The Lakeshore Lancers came to Dowagiac as the favorites to win the Big-16 Conference West Division championship and the Lancers left town without anyone disputing that fact.
Lakeshore rolled to wins over the Dowagiac boys' and girls' squads Thursday afternoon in the Chieftains' season opener.
Lakeshore won the boys' meet, 110-53. The Lady Lancers scored a 133-30 victory over a very young Chieftain squad.
Dowagiac was short handed in both halves of the meet. Still, Chieftain coach Ken Jordan liked what he saw.
Devon Jackson and J.J. White were both triple winners for the Chieftains. Sabrina Demerly won two events for Dowagiac, while Anne O'Keefe set a new school record in the pole vault.
