Armed Forces Day May 17 is usually overshadowed by Memorial Day, but with America at war in Iraq, Dowagiac Eagles Aerie 2441 Auxiliary is working to make it special in 2003.
Tracey Goodrich of the Auxiliary said Tuesday they are trying to compile a list of names of all service men and women from Dowagiac, whether they are in combat in Iraq or stationed somewhere else.
Names will be displayed on a poster downtown for Armed Services Day, but the Eagles also are selling yellow ribbons for $1 to raise money to purchase a permanent plaque that will be presented to the city.
Goodrich asks that names be left with her no later than May 14 by calling 782-8134 afternoons or evenings.
