Dowagiac track team swept by South Haven

The Dowagiac boys and girls track teams were swept by visiting South Haven in a Wolverine Conference dual meet Tuesday.

The Rams edged the Chieftains 62-61 in the girls portion of the meet, while the South Haven boys posted an easy 99-36 win over Dowagiac.

Nijah Russell won the 100- and 200-meters as well as teaming up to help led the Chieftains to a win in the 400-meter relays.

Russell ran 12.51 in the 100, 27.93 in the 200, while 800- and 400-meter relay teams were clocked at 2:01 and 54.01 respectively.

The 400 relay team consists of Russell, Kazmere Williams, Al’Dreonna Henderson and Tania Wilson). The 800 relay team was made up of Wilson, Williams, Henderson and Keyana Reyna.

Henderson also won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles with times of 19.59 and 1:01.9.

For the boys team, Dowagiac won the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:40. No individual names were reported.
