EDWARDSBURG — Sally Vee Schut, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest on Aug. 12, 2013 at her home.

Sally was born Nov. 14, 1938 in Elkhart, Ind. the oldest daughter of Orville Howard Wise and Dorothy VanOstran Wise. On March 26, 1960 in Elkhart she married Robert Norman Schut who survives. Also surviving are four children; Frederick (Robin) Schut of Caledonia, Max (Julie) Schut of South Bend, Ind., Derek Schut of Edwardsburg, and Sara (Tony) Serra of Saline, Mich. There are eight grandchildren; Zollie, Havilah, Sunshine, Rainbow and Timothy Schut, Olivia and Willow Harbart, and Sofia Serra. There is one great-grandchild; Treva Schut. Sally is also survived by a brother; Walter J. Wise of Elkhart, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister; Anne Phillips.

Sally was employed as a secretary at Miles Laboratories, Inc. (now Bayer Corp.). It was there that she met her husband, Robert. She retired from Miles in 1961 to take on the full-time job of homemaker. After the children completed school she was employed in several clerical positions in the Michiana area as well as in West Haven, Conn., where her husband was employed from 1988-1990.

Sally was very active in the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, where she was a choir member for many years and also served on the Board of Deacons. Sally liked to keep active and greatly enjoyed swimming. Her greatest joy came from helping people and she was particularly passionate about her work as a volunteer in the Cass-Van Buren County Hospice Association.

A Memorial Service for the celebration of Sally’s life will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, 68961 Lake St. Edwardsburg. Family and friends may gather to visit at the church one hour before the service.
