An overnight manhunt has led to the arrest of three men for the alleged armed robbery of a Niles liquor store Sunday evening.

Jadius Jamar Owens, 24, Daris Eshon Boles, 19, and Tyshawn Marquis Kellogg, 18, all of South Bend, Ind., were arraigned Monday afternoon in Niles on several charges, including armed robbery, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.

The three men are allegedly responsible for taking several thousand dollars in cash from Riverside Liquor, 1206 N. Front St., Niles, around 8 p.m.

Priya Sirvel was the only employee working at the time of the robbery. She said she was stocking items when three men entered the store and showed her they all had guns. One of the men ordered Sirvel to place money in a bag, while the other two stood watch. Sirvel estimated that between $3,000 and $3,500 was taken.

Sirvel was ordered face down on the ground, and the three men left the store.

She said it is the first time thea store has been robbed. It has been in business for almost seven years, she said.

“I am very happy that they were caught. I was praying to God that they should get caught,” said Sirvel, who was not hurt.

A citizen called Niles police at around 7:58 p.m. to report he saw three masked subjects exit Riverside Liquor and get into a red SUV before heading north on M-140.

A Niles police officer spotted the suspect vehicle heading south on Indian Lake Road north of Sumnerville, several miles away from the store. The officer pursued the vehicle, which eventually drove into a yard near the intersection of Center and Pokagon streets in Sumnerville. At least three suspects were observed running from the vehicle into a wooded area and cornfields nearby.

Police from several agencies set up a perimeter in the area while canine units began tracking.

Niles police officers, including a canine unit, found Owens hiding under a downed tree just off of Indian Lake Road north of Sumnerville several hours later.

At around 2 a.m. Sunday, an officer pulled over a vehicle south of Sumnerville containing Boles and Kellogg in the backseat.

A fourth subject has been identified. Police are seeking a warrant for his arrest.

The subjects are being investigated for possible involvement in other area armed robberies.

Judge Dennis Wiley set bond for all three men at $200,000 cash or surety.

All three suspects were arraigned on one count each of armed robbery and resisting arrest.

Owens and Boles were also arraigned on a felony firearms charge, which carries a mandatory consecutive two-year penalty.

The three men are scheduled to undergo a preliminary examination hearing within 14 days.
