Hunger rally to occupy outside of Upton’s office

fairness, will hold an “Occupy Hunger” rally from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday outside of U.S. Rep. Fred Upton’s office, 800 Ship St. in St. Joseph.
Nonperishable food goods will be collected at the rally and delivered to the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen.
Event organizer Matthew Rosenhagen, of Niles, said Occupy Southwest Michigan is a nonpartisan group of more than 300 people from throughout the area.
Rosenhagen said the rally will be held on the day Congress’ Super Committee is supposed to release its report to the public.
The Super Committee is a group of 12 senators, including Upton, who have working since August to find reductions to more than $1 trillion of the nation’s debt.
“Occupy Hunger is a super opportunity for the 99 percent to respond to the committee’s recommendations,” Rosenhagen said.
