Juveniles arrested for B&Es; sheriff’s department reminds residents to lock doors

Two Niles Township juveniles were arrested in connection with several cases of breaking-and-entering.

The youth were petitioned to Fifth District Probate Court in Berrien County Friday.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, detectives received a tip of stolen property at the 2100 block of Spansail Street in Niles Township. The property was recovered at the residence, and further investigation led to the discovery of approximately 30 additional car and garage breaking-and-enterings in the Oak Manor subdivision in Niles Township.

In the last three months, several residents in the neighborhood have reported breaking-and-enterings.

The two suspects will be petitioned to court on charges of breaking and entering and larceny from motor vehicles.

The sheriff’s department reminds residents to lock vehicles when they are unattended. The vehicles involved in these incidents were unlocked, and valuable items were stolen from inside.
