Former Brandywine coach Jim Myers will be elected into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame March 23 in Ann Arbor.

Myers, who coached varsity football 40 years at Dowagiac, Brandywine and Niles, has a career record of 210-125-2.

Myers was a four-time Blossomland/Lakeland Conference Coach of the Year, as well as the Class CC Regional Coach of the year in 1995 when he led Brandywine to its first undefeated (9-0) regular season.

The Bobcats, who won Lakeland Conference championships in 1995, 1996 and 1997, were also two-team state qualifiers under Myers — 1995 (first in school history) and 2002.

Myers is currently coaching freshmen football at Niles High School.

He will be inducted at the Sheraton in Ann Arbor along with Tom Alward of Goodrich, Richard Bell of Swan Valley, Bob Blacquiere of Grand Rapids South Christian, David R. Duram of Hudsonville and William Fritsma of Spring Lake.

Also going into the Hall of Fame will be Greg Ganfield of Romeo, Kelly Luplow of Clare, Bill McLellan of Elkton Pigeon Bay Port, Gary H. Schlief of Dearborn Edsel Ford, Ken Semelsberger of Detroit Servite/Port Huron, Mark Thomas of South Lyon, Tim Travis of Unionville-Sebewaing Area and Mitchel Ulrich of Mendon.

The evening will begin with a social time at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:30 and the induction ceremonies to begin at 7:30 p.m.

University of Michigan head coach Brady Hoke will be the guest speaker.
