Decatur wins Division 4 title

BATTLE CREEK — It was a battle between the top two teams in the Division 4 baseball state finals at C.O. Brown Stadium Saturday.

The No. 2-ranked Decatur Raiders knocked off the No. 1-ranked Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 4-1 to claim its fourth state title.

The Raiders trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third, but scored twice and then scored twice more in the fourth to earn the victory.

Tim Cerven went the distance, allowing one run on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.

T.J. Stambek, who was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, led the Raiders offensively. Theodore drove in a pair of runs for Decatur, which won its first state title since 2003.

Decatur also won championships in 2002 and 1999. The Raiders were runner-up in 2001.
