Cousins square off as coaches Monday

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Cousins Katy Stuppy and Sydney Smallbone will square off as coaches in the McDonald’s Michiana High School Basketball Classic at Bethel College Monday.

Stuppy, a former Dowagiac standout who also starred at Lake Michigan Catholic and Bethel College will coach the Grey team.

Smallbone, who was a standout at St. Joseph’s in South Bend and then went on to win a National Championship while at Tennessee, will coach the Red team.

The Basketball Classic will feature 20 of the area’s top basketball players. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. The boys game will follow.

The Grey team consists of Toni Murphy (Michigan City), Keshyana Cooper (Michigan City), Kilee Knafel (Wawasee), Kerria Columbus (Riley), Lindsay Baker (Warsaw), Jennifer Walker-Crawford (Warsaw), Amber Redinger (Plymouth), Christine Valentine (St. Joseph), Erica Priebe (St. Joseph) and Lauren Brower (St. Joseph).

The Red team is made up of Aimee Swihart (Goshen), Monica Jones (Elkhart Memorial), Tia Garnett (Elkhart Central), Olivia Carlton (Penn), Taylor Lutz (Penn), Molly Hoover (Trinity), Michelle Adeniyi (Clay), Katie Barnard (Marian), Savanah Bley (NorthWood) and Cam Tyler (Lakeshore).
