South Bend man injured in Cass County crash

A South Bend, Ind., man was injured Monday in a two-car accident at the intersection of Dailey Road and Pokagon Highway in La Grange Township in Cass County.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that at 12:34 p.m. Emmanuel Jacobs, 22, of South Bend, was heading north on Dailey Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle. James Hershberger, 24, of Vandalia, was heading east with a passenger, John Fisher, 53, of Dowagiac. Hershberger was unable to avoid the crash.

Jacobs was the only person injured and was taken by ambulance to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment. Seat belts were used and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting were Life Care Ambulance Service, Cassopolis Fire Department and Penn Township Fire Department.
