Lester C. “Butch” Westphal, 67, of Three Rivers, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 in Three Rivers Health.

Butch was born June 3, 1946 in Jones to Lester and Gertrude (Tank) Westphal. He married Lois June Hunsberger in 1965 in Cassopolis. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Butch was the head of a close-knit family whom he loved spending time with. He was the best husband and father and grandpa ever. He liked hunting, fishing, his 1957 Chevy, and camping with his family. They will miss seeing him sitting on the back porch under the shade tree. Butch loved attending horse shows and was always ready to join in and help. He was always willing to help when needed no matter what the project was.  He loved going out for breakfast every Saturday morning with his wife.

Butch will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, June (Hunsberger) Westphal of Three Rivers; one daughter, Lora Westphal of Three Rivers; one son, Steve (Brandy) Westphal of Three Rivers; one granddaughter, Breanna Westphal of Three Rivers; three sisters, Judy Jacobs of Jones, Joyce (Chuck) Kent of Three Rivers, Janice (Jim) Kindig of Marcellus; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. and again Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis with Pastors Gary Carr and Terry Neumayer officiating. Mr. Westphal will be laid to rest in Poe Cemetery, Newberg Township.
