CASSOPOLIS — A 23-year-old Niles man who “used a car door as a vise or a weapon” has been sentenced to two years of probation on two charges.

Jordan Lee, of 410 Decker St., was sentenced in Cass County Court July 16 for two counts of felony resisting/obstructing police to two years of probation for each count, to run concurrently.

Police were called to E. Jefferson Street in Cassopolis at about 3 a.m. Feb. 13 to a fight.

Lee had gotten into a fight with a friend while they were both drinking.

“His car door was used as a vise or a weapon,” Prosecutor Victor Fitz said.

Lee resisted arrest and was Tazed by police, fell to the ground and injured his face.

He continued to resist arrest and his blood-alcohol level tested 0.16.

Lee’s prior criminal record includes public intoxication, driving on a suspended license and operating without a license.

“There’s a disturbing trend developing,” Circuit Judge Michael Dodge said.

“I would like to apologize to my family,” Lee said. “I am very regretful for what happened.”
