Little League district set to begin

Defending champion Niles will begin its quest of a second straight Little League District 15 championship Saturday at F.O.P. Park.

The Niles All-Stars will host Constantine in the opening round at 11 a.m.

The winner advances to the quarterfinals where it will face either Vicksburg or Coldwater July 9 at Niles F.O.P. Park at 6 p.m.

The loser will drop into the consolation bracket and play in Niles July 9 at 8 p.m.

Niles will also be the site of the championship semifinals July 12 at 6 p.m. The finals will be played July 17 in Schoolcraft.

Other first round games have Schoolcraft taking on Three Rivers in Coldwater and Mendon facing Mattawan in Niles Saturday at 1 p.m.

The district champion advances to the state tournament in Vicksburg beginning July 20.
