Eugene S. Kruse

Eugene S. Kruse, 95, of Mason Township, Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Jan. 2, 2013 while a patient at Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, after an illness.

He was born May 17, 1917 in Benton Harbor, the son of Robert E. and Corabelle (Ludy) Kruse. He grew up in the Benton Harbor area.

At the age of 18, he joined the US Army and served for three years, being discharged on Dec. 7, 1939. He was active all his life having been in Maintenance as a foreman with Williams Products of Elkhart, Ind. His hobbies centered around his gardening, fishing, NASCAR, and was a football fan.

Eugene was married in 1940 at Bourbon, Ind. to Zanetta M. Scoville, who passed On Oct. 6, 2003. Surviving are their children, Eugene E. (Cheryl) Kruse and Robert S. (Donna) Kruse, both of Edwardsburg. There are six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Family who preceded Eugene in death, besides his wife, are his parents, two sisters, Roberta North and Corabelle Landis, and a brother, James Victor Kruse.

Family and friends gathered at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main Street (US-12), Edwardsburg, Sunday Jan. 6, 2013. The funeral service was be Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor of the Hope United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed at the Adamsville Cemetery where he will be laid to rest by his beloved wife, Zanetta. The U.S. Army Honor Guard will do Military Rites of TAPS and folding the flag.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cass County Medical Care Facility, 23770 Hospital St., Cassopolis, MI 49013. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
