Brandywine enrollment holds steady

Brandywine Community Schools has released preliminary enrollment figures taken during the first week of school.

Brandywine currently has 1,424 students enrolled, including students enrolled in adult education. There are 1,390 students in grades kindergarten through 12.

“It’s about where we budgeted for, but we are anticipating more alternative education and adult education students to come. We are still rounding them up,” Jarpe said. “We anticipate by the fall count (in October) we should move up some to right round the 1400 mark (for K-12).”

Based on the preliminary numbers, Brandywine’s enrollment is similar to last year’s enrollment.

Brandywine had 1,439 students in the fall of 2011 and 1,401 students K-12.

School districts received state aid based on enrollment. Official enrollment counts are taken twice during the school year, once in the fall and once in the spring.
