Police are searching for a black female, who stole a large quantity of merchandise from the Dollar General store in Niles Sunday afternoon.

Det. Chad Mitchell, of the Niles Police Department, said at around 1 p.m. Sunday a heavy-set black female between the ages of 35 and 45 stole more than $250 worth of items from the Dollar General, 410 2nd St.

Mitchell called it a typical retail fraud with no threatening or violent behavior by the suspect.

The suspect used two large gift bags from the store and filled them over a period of about five minutes with the merchandise, including clothing and laundry products. The suspect then left the store and got in a 1998 to 2003 blue Dodge Durango with a black male driver.

The suspect, who had a ponytail, is described as a light-skinned black female. She was wearing a dark-colored hooded coat with a gray liner, red and yellow pajama pants and grey tennis shoes.

Mitchell said this crime seems to be an isolated incident as there haven’t been other similar crimes recently in the area.

Niles Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
