‘Elvis’ coming to Edwardsburg

Curt Lechner, 42, of Hebron, Ind., portrays both entertainers in the benefit tribute.

Proceeds will be divided between Edwardsburg American Legion Post 365, 25985 U.S. 12, and the Wounded Warrior Project, according to promoter Sid Ottman of Just for Fun Entertainment.

Ottman, a Legion member who lives in Granger, will also be part of the bill with his country tribute between Humperdinck, known for such hits as “Release Me,” “The Last Waltz,” “After the Lovin’ ” and “A Man Without Love,” and Presley.

The show starts at 7. Doors open at 6.

The Ottmans, who are also deejays, will close out the evening with an hour of dancing. Tickets cost $10. Call (269) 663-8888 for ticket information.

Ottman, 62, who was in Buchanan when reached by phone Monday, retired after 32 years as an over-the-road semi truck driver. He and his wife, Patti, did so many benefits they started buying their own equipment and amassed 25,000 songs on compact disc.

When he retired in 2003, he turned his attention to Just for Fun Entertainment.

Ottman said on Nov. 30 at 8 p.m., he will be in Three Rivers at the Riviera Theatre, 30 N. Main St., to see John Denver tribute artist Ted Vigil. Tickets cost $15.

Lechner, “The Essence of Elvis,” has been entertaining as the king of rock and roll since 2002. He graduated from Lowell, Ind., High School in 1988 and earned a public administration degree from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1992.

He works for the Hoosier Lottery and is engaged to be married to Cherie Beechin.
