Chesterton Art Fair welcomes back New Buffalo’s Hermalink

The 54th Annual Chesterton Art Fair will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, August 4th and 5th at Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive in Porter, Ind. Admission is $5. Parking is free.

New Buffalo-based artist, George Hermalink, will be returning this year to the Chesterton Art Fair. Hermalink is an oil painter who began drawing and painting at a very early age. He began his art career in the theater as a scenic painter in the Chicago Scenic Painters Union. Then, George found his way into advertising and spent 40 years as a creative director at a number of large agencies.

George works in a classic oil painting style mimicking what he learned at art school. “I find the medium very forgiving, and I also like the fact that the work can last for centuries. It is truly satisfying to know that what you create can give someone joy in their lives and hopefully for generations to come.”

The Chesterton Art Fair was George’s first art fair and has continued to be one of his favorites. He will be exhibiting a number of new pieces this year.

George will be joined by fellow Michigan artists Mary Burke from Berrien Springs, Bill McCamish from Three Oaks, Ronald Stec from Stevensville and James Allen French from Niles. Ninety artists from eight states will be exhibiting such items as paintings, drawings, photography, handmade jewelry, sculpture, weaving, glass and pottery.
