Cassopolis announces Top 10 students

Cassopolis High School has announced its Top 10 Students.

They are Brittney Prestly, Meghan Owen, Jurnee Johnson, Melody Cutting, Emily Dussel, Monica Ward, Jacqueline Kelley-Cogdell, Valerie Rowan, Destiny Franks and Garrett Green.

Rounding out the top 20 are Colin Kelley, Brianna Steele, Daniel Deubner, Cassandra Pflug, Kristi Buzalski, Stacey Horstmann, Selena Emig, Joseph Touhey, Kaylyn Forrest and Erica Williams.

 

Brittney Prestly

Prestly is the daughter of Clyde and Cathy Prestly of Cassopolis.  She is graduating Summa Cum Laude. Prestly is a member of the National Honor Society, Cassopolis FFA and SADD. She also participated in varsity basketball, varsity soccer and JV volleyball. She will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall to pursue a career in Athletic Training and Business.

 

Meghan Owen

Owen is the daughter of Shannon Harris and David Owen of Vandalia. Meghan is graduating Summa Cum Laude. Owen has participated in tennis and cheerleading. She is also actively involved in Robotics, SADD, choir and Science Olympiad. Following graduation Owen will attend Southwestern Michigan College for a degree in nursing and specialize in pediatric nursing.

 

Jurnee Johnson

Johnson is the daughter of Henry and Nichole Johnson of Cassopolis. She is graduating Summa Cum Laude. Jurnee is an involved member of Student Body Senate, National Honor Society, SADD, Science Olympiad, Educational Talent Search, Spanish Club and Youth Advisory Counsel. She participated in track, volleyball and cheerleading. Following graduation Johnson will attend Southwestern Michigan College in the fall to obtain her degree in Nursing.

 

Melody Cutting

Cutting is the daughter of Robert Cutting and Lisa Cutting both of Cassopolis. Cutting is graduating Summa Cum Laude. She also participates in soccer and track. In Cutting ’s spare time she enjoys showing horses in 4-H and helping out with community service. Following graduation she will attend the University of Michigan to pursue a degree in Fine Arts.

 

Emily Dussel

Dussel is the daughter of Mike and Karie Dussel of Cassopolis. Dussel is graduating Summa Cum Laude. She is a member of the National Honor Society, SADD, Cassopolis FFA, band, Educational Talent Search and 4-H. Following graduation Dussel plans to pursue a degree in occupational therapy at Grand Valley State University.

 

Monica Ward

Ward is the daughter of Scott and Rachele Ward of Cassopolis. She is graduating Summa Cum Laude. Ward is an actively involved member of the Cassopolis FFA, National Honor Society, Student Senate Body member and president. She is a member of the Extreme Poms Team, danced at Miss Michlele & Co. and a member of the Legacy 4-H Club. Monica also participated in varsity cheerleading for four years. Following graduation Ward will pursue her degree in pre-medicine at Michigan State University and eventually become a doctor.

 

Jacqueline Kelley-Cogdell

Kelley-Cogdell is the daughter of Brad and Joanne Cogdell of Cassopolis. Kelley-Cogdell is graduating Summa Cum Laude. She is an active member of robotics, band and Thespian Troupe.  She has participated in cross country for four years and track. Kelley-Cogdell is also a member of the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra and Bohemian Grandma Improv Troupe. Following graduation she will attend Smith College in Massachusetts to pursue a major in biological sciences or music performance.

 

Valerie Rowan

Rowan is the daughter of Eric Rowan and Melisa Rowan both of Cassopolis. She is graduating Summa Cum Laude. Rowan has participated in tennis, Spanish Club and SADD. She will attend Southwestern Michigan College in the fall.

 

Destiny Franks

Franks is the daughter of Ronald and Crystal Franks of Cassopolis. Franks is graduating Summa Cum Laude. Franks is a member of the robotics ream and has participated in tennis. She plans on attend the University of Michigan.

 

Garrett Green

Green is the son of Tim and Lori Green of Cassopolis. He is graduating Summa Cum Laude. Green is an active member of the robotics ream, National Honor Society and Educational Talent Search. He also participates in soccer and golf. Following graduation Green will attend Central Michigan University to become an Electrical Engineer.
