Foodies hosts second ACTION Thanksgiving dinner

No one needs to be alone or hungry on Thanksgiving in greater Dowagiac thanks to the efforts of A.C.T.I.O.N. (Area Churches Together in One Network), Foodies Fresh Café, area youth and volunteers.
The second annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, at Foodies, 113 S. Front St., Dowagiac. Serving times will be from noon to 3:00 p.m. There is no charge for the meal.
“Last year was so much fun” said Foodies manager Alex Nehring. “Our guests included the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’ sitting together and enjoying this wonderful community.”
The free meal is designed to be an alternative to the problems faced by our global community. Today families are often separated at holidays and such separation leads to depression and feelings of isolation.
This year’s efforts are being expanded to include delivery of “take out” orders to those who are house bound. There are also volunteers willing to give rides to those who would like to join the celebration at Foodies.
A.C.T.I.O.N. is also looking for volunteers and donations to make the event a success. Cash donations will go to buy food and supplies for the meal and leftover funds will be used for the Action Ministry Center Food Pantry.
Contact Carol at 782-5700 or you can drop off a donation at Foodies Fresh Cafe, 113 S. Front St. or send a donation to P.O. Box 393, Dowagiac.
