Items needed for ‘A Day of Giving’

On Dec. 14, 2012, from noon to 7 p.m. stop by the Four Flags Area Council on Tourism and participate in “A Day of Giving.”

Communities in Berrien and Cass County have been affected by a high rate of unemployment due to the closing of many businesses. This has left many families in the area struggling with needs that have to be met and local food pantries stressing to fulfill the need.

The Four Flags Area Council on Tourism is partnering with Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army to collect items, such as an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, adult clothing items, nonperishable food items, toiletries, especially pajama’s for children of all sizes, socks all sizes, items for newborns and infants, diapers and wipes.

The organization is also collecting donations for the Veterans Home in Niles and the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek. We have many homeless  If you have a family member who has served or is currently serving i the military, bring a photo of them to be placed on the“Wall of Heroes” display in the office.

Suggested items for donation are postage stamps, envelopes, puzzle books, magazines, books, dictionaries, combs, deodorant, shampoo, soap, shaving items, dental floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste, pens, pencils coloring pencils, stationary, playing cards, crayons, craft kits, sewing kits, socks, slippers, razors, wallets, watches, MP3 players, radios, irons, laundry soap, handkerchiefs, phone cards, monetary donations, clothing of all types and sizes.
