Paw Paw swept the Dowagiac girls and boys basketball teams in home-and-home Wolverine Conference non-divisional contests Tuesday night.

The host Chieftain girls team dropped a 42-33 division to the Redskins.

Dowagiac lost 36-30 to Paw Paw earlier this season.

The Chieftains (2-8) trailed by just two points, 15-13, at halftime and by four points heading into the final quarter.

The Redskins (7-5) outscored Dowagiac 10-5 in the final eight minutes for the victory.

Amiyah Smith scored a game-high 13 points before fouling out. Taylor Hulett added seven points.

No Paw Paw player reached double figures.

Mackenzie Newel and Kiarra Herson both had nine points for the Redskins.

The Chieftains will host Sturgis in a Wolverine Conference South Division game at 6 p.m. Friday.

In boys action, Paw Paw scored 26 points in the second quarter and 22 points in the fourth quarter to improve to 9-3 on the season.

Dowagiac trailed 16-10 after the opening eight minutes and scored 20 points in the second, but still found itself down 42-30 at halftime.

The Chieftains (2-8) were outscored 39-25 in the second half as the Redskins pulled away.

Adrien Bucha-Moore scored 25 points to lead Dowagiac, while Marcus Winchester-Jones added 10 points.

Paw Paw, which had three players with 17 points or more in the contest, was led by Luke Toliver’s game-high 28 points.

Trey Brenanan and Nate Smetana both finished with 17 points.

Dowagiac will host Sturgis in a Wolverine Conference South Division contest set to begin at approximately 7:15 p.m. Friday.
