Dennis D. “Bodie” Boeve, 69, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, in his home after an illness, with his longtime companion, Cheri Kujawa, by his side.

Bodie was born in Denver, to Lloyd S. and Donna L. (Glaum) Boeve, who then moved to Edwardsburg to be closer to family.

After high school, Bodie worked at Niles’ Clark Service Station, and then for Mid-States Construction as a master carpenter and journeyman lineman, where he traveled country-wide, building power transmission towers and running power lines in this area and for the Tennessee Valley Authority to support his family. He loved carpentry most, and made that his main profession throughout his life until his retirement in 2006 due to health issues.

He enjoyed the company of family and lifelong friends, his Dallas Cowboys, hot rods, billiards, cold brew, good food, dancing with pretty gals and creating great memories anywhere he went. He was an exceptional woodworker whose talented work was viewed by many in his hometown, unbeknown to them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Donna.

He is survived by five children, Troy A. Shearman of Cleveland, Stacey L. Boeve of Niles, Todd D. Boeve of Houston, Joshua L.G. Kujawa of Indianapolis and Destiny M. Kujawa of Edwardsburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister , Cynthia “Candy” Boeve of Gilmer, Texas; a niece; a great-niece; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A private burial will be in Edwardsburg Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cass County Cancer Services, P.O. Box 676, Edwardsburg, MI 49112-0676, or the cancer research center of your choice.
