Softball roundup: Vikings, Bobcats swept

The mistakes keep piling up for the Niles softball team.

The Vikings dropped to 4-12 on the season after being swept by visiting South Bend St. Joseph Saturday.

Niles committed 11 errors in the two games, which allowed the Indians to score seven unearned runs in the 14-3 first game loss and three unearned runs in the 9-5 loss in the second game.

The Viking pitching staff also gave up five doubles in the two games.

Niles finished the day with 17 hits, including 10 in the second game.

Brooke Timm, who was tagged with the loss in each game, doubled in both contests.

Taylor Altergott, Timm, Tegan Bays and Aynslee Myer all had two hits in the second game for the Vikings. Bays and Myer each drove in a pair of runs.

Addison Davies, who also doubled in the second game, was 3-for-3 in the opener.

 

 

Brandywine softball

THREE OAKS — Visiting Brandywine was swept by River Valley 18-3 and 8-2 Tuesday.

In the opening game, the Bobcats managed just four hits — all singles.

In the nightcap, Michaela Hartline was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Madison Bailey was 2-for-3, while Destiny Bennett doubled.
