The Dowagiac tennis team defeated short-handed Eau Claire 7-1 in a non-conference match at the Dowagiac Middle School courts Friday.

The Chieftains won two out of the three singles matches that were contested on the court and the lone doubles match.

The Beavers forfeited at No. 4 singles as well as No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 doubles.

The Chieftains will host Edwardsburg in a Wolverine Conference match at 4 p.m. Wednesday and then host Berrien Springs in a non-conference match Friday.
