Kailey Fear is a freshman on the Dowagiac softball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

KF: Pitching over 60 m.p.h.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

KF: Not making a team that I tried out for.

What has been a hardship in your life?

KF: I have been fortunate enough to have not had a hardship in my life.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

KF: My dad, because he is always there for me when I need him.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

KF: When bunting.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

KF: I threw a pitch and fell over. Good thing it was strike three.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

KF: When my dad and I practice, I throw for around an hour targeting my weak pitches and form.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

KF: Soccer.

Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?

KF: My grandparents, because they never miss a single game.

How would you give away $50,000?

KF: I would give $25,000 to Dowagiac softball and give $25,000 to the choir program.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

KF: University of Michigan softball.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

KF: Act and sing for out of school productions.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

KF: Stand tall when I am pitching and batting.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

KF: Pitchers having to present the ball and having to keep their drag foot down.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

KF: My pitching and hitting coaches saying they were proud of me and how I have progressed.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

KF: Coming to the weight room the summer before my freshman year with girls I didn’t know. Yes, it made me a better player.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

KF: Megan Soderbloom hitting a home run.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

KF: Softball, because it makes me happy.
