Angela D. Briand

Angela D. Briand, 19, of Niles, passed away tragically due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, April 8, 2016.

She was born in Berrien Springs, Michigan on Sept. 10, 1996 to Richard and Christina (Gobeil) Briand.

Angela was a good, down-to-earth girl that loved everyone. Her nature was to take care of everyone and try to guide them to always do the right thing. From trying to watch over her friends while they had a good time, to driving miles to provide comfort to someone who was upset; she was everyone’s guardian angel. Angela’s grandmother, Theresa Gobeil, often told her mother, Christina, that she named Angela perfectly, she was truly an angel.

Angela was your typical 19 year old who loved spending time with her friends, going to bonfires, and had a wonderfully goofy sense of humor; She was also the most caring and giving person you could meet.

In her free time, after work, Angela often gathered items for the homeless shelter and many times took food to them. She loved paying it forward and had a free spirit. She had attended both Niles and Buchanan schools graduating from Buchanan High School class of 2015. She was a current employee of Papa John’s Pizza in Niles while attending Lake Michigan College full time. She will be remembered by the countless lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Theresa Gobeil, paternal great-grandfather Richard Mason, maternal great-grandparents Harold and Rita Edwards, maternal great-grandfather Gerard Gobeil and paternal great-grandmother Mildred Riggs.

Angela is survived by her loving parents, Richard and Christina Briand, nine siblings; Theresa, Rachael, Richard II “Ricky”, Michelle, Thomas, Mathew, Anthony, Gabrielle and Gabriel, Her paternal great-grandmother Betty Mason, paternal grandfather George Halferty, maternal great-grandmother Eva Gobeil and maternal grandfather Gerard Gobeil.

Angela also leaves to cherish her memory several aunts, uncles and cousins and special friends who were more like sisters, Morgan Richer and Bethany Herman.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles with The Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana.
