Athlete Showcase: Niles’ Chelsea Best

Chelsea Best is a senior on the Niles soccer team.

 

What has been one of your greatest

accomplishments as an athlete?

CB: Being a captain on both the soccer and cross country teams.

What has been one of your biggest

disappointments as an athlete?

CB: Letting other teams mercy my team, too many times to count.

What has been a hardship in your life?

CB: My life has been pretty carefree thus far and I’m thankful for that.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CB: My mom for always giving me someone to look up to and for shaping me into the person I’ve become.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

CB: When I have friends there to watch me.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CB: I used my hands to block my face in our game on Monday.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

CB: I like running on my own, with friends or kicking the ball around.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CB: I would have loved to run track.

Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?

CB: My parents are both my biggest fans, because of their constant support.

How would you give away $50,000?

CB: Most of it would go to my mom for all the money she’s had to spend on me.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CB: Cross country. From being on the team, I think it would be the most fun.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CB: I wouldn’t know what to do with myself in my free time.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CB: To stay positive when I make mistakes or if my team is losing.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CB: Offsides … many of my teammates do not understand it and get called for it.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

CB: All compliments are good, especially ones that have to do with my personality.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

CB: Take college courses as a high school junior, but I’m glad I did.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CB: I’ve been seeing a lot of prom(posals) lately, which are usually pretty impressive.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CB: Reading because it’s relaxing.
