Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s Marissa Dodd

Marissa Dodd is a senior on the Dowagiac softball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

MD: Being able to further my softball career.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

MD: Losing district championship the last two years.

What has been a hardship in your life?

MD: My grandpa dying.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

MD: My mom, because I look up to her and she’s one of the strongest people I know.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

MD: When the game is close and in the last inning.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

MD: Falling at home plate during a rainy game.

How do you tend to

workout/train when by

yourself?

MD: Go to the gym or for a run.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

MD: Soccer.

Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?

MD: My dad, because he loves watching me play.

How would you give away $50,000?

MD: Give it to a charity for the awareness of suicide and cancer charities.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

MD: University of Michigan’s softball team.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

MD: Focus more on school.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

MD: To not get upset at mistakes.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

MD: Not being able to lead off a base earlier.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

MD: You’re an amazing athlete.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

MD: Apply for colleges and yes I am glad I did it.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

MD: Good sportsmanship impresses me always.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

MD: Besides softball it is probably reading because I’ve always loved to read.
