The staff at Justus Gage Elementary School recently decided to add a little variety to the usual Friday math lessons, dividing up classrooms, subtracting the usual textbooks and multiplying the amount fun for students. Throughout February, the school’s kindergarten and first grade classrooms and second through third grade classrooms were combined into groups every Friday for special “math days” at the school. The students reinforced their knowledge of basic arithmetic through math-themed board games, loaned to the school by Andrews University. These “math days” are the newest strategy for Justus Gage educators to enhance fundamental learning skills in students throughout the year, said Principal Bryan Henry.
