Lakeshore edges Vikings in overtime

STEVENSVILLE — Visiting Niles came up a bit short in upsetting Lakeshore in SMAC West Division boys basketball Friday night.

The Vikings (4-14, 2-7 SMAC West) forced the game into overtime, but were outscored 6-3 in the extra session and lost to the Lancers (12-7, 4-5 SMAC West) 56-53.

Niles trailed 16-8 after one, but outscored Lakeshore 31-16 in the second and third quarters to take a 39-32 lead into the final eight minutes of regulation.

Lakeshore rallied to tie the game at 50-50, sending it into overtime.

Bryce Lake had 17 points to lead the Vikings, who also got 16 points from Gavin Rasler and 12 points from Dawson Clemens.

Braden Burke scored 17 points for the Lancers, while Logan Steffes added 12 and Jake Bushu 10.
