Volunteers with the recent Flint water donation drive got together in front of one of the flats filled with bottled water parked out front of C. Wimberley Automotive’s Ford dealership Friday afternoon.

Last week, local businesses and individuals donated bottled water to the collection effort, spearheaded by Dowagiac IT3 owner Brian Antisdel and Clean Cut Lawn & Landscape owner Scott Palmer.

In total, the drive raised around 14 skids, or 14,000 bottles, worth of clean water for the residents of Flint who are affected by lead contamination in the public water system.

The organizers delivered the water to relief organizations stationed in the Eastern Michigan city Saturday.

“For little ol’ Dowagiac to be sending up a truck full of water, collected in less than a week, it makes me tear up,” Antisdel said.
