Nancy Lee Margaret Ottinger, 75, of Buchanan, Michigan died at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at her home. Her death was unexpected, but of natural causes.

She was born on March 7, 1940, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Anton William and Mathilda Anna (Bantes) Klade. She was graduated from Brandywine High School, and has lived in this area most of her life. She was employed for many years at the Mishawaka, Indiana plant of Nyloncraft, Inc., and at the former Industrial Coils, Inc. in Niles.

Nancy was a member of the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed reading novels. She was a member and president of the board of directors of the Plymouth, Indiana Jellystone Park Camp Resort, and enjoyed traveling, especially to South Carolina to visit family.

On June 21, 1958, in South Bend, Indiana she married John E. Ottinger with whom she celebrated last year the 57th anniversary of their wedding.

She is survived by her husband, John and their children, Debora (Donald) Strugar of South Bend, John (Anne) Ottinger of Niles, and Douglas (Teri) Ottinger of South Bend; grandchildren James (Renee) Hamilton, Melissa (Dustin) Brabank, and Matthew Ottinger; great-grandchildren, Keristen, Austen, and Hailey, a great-great-granddaughter, Sophia; and Nancy’s sisters, Elizabeth Jane (Ray) Olsen of Columbia, South Carolina and Genevieve Kathlee (Allen) Woolery of Renton, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

The family of Nancy Ottinger will be gathering privately to honor her life and share memories. Contributions in memory of Nancy may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home.
