Michael R. Schelkopf, 77, of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at home.
Michael was born on Dec. 12, 1938, to the late Adolph and Marie (Lawlor) Schelkopf in Chicago. He graduated from Niles High School. Michael then attended Western Michigan University and Ferris State University. He worked as a printing pressman at Simplicity Pattern Co. for 30 years. On Dec. 15, 1973, he married Rebecca Dunnuck at a ceremony in Niles. Michael enjoyed gardening, cooking for everyone and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rebecca; daughters, Brenda (Brad) Hemphill of Buchanan and Linda Gridley of Burlington, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Alexandria Hemphill, Madeline Hemphill and Richard Wayne Gridley III; sister, Donna (Ed) Dunnuck and sister-in-laws, Nancy Schelkopf, Diane Schelkopf and Jamie Schelkopf.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Marie; and brothers, Ronald, Robert and Craig Schelkopf.
Funeral services for Michael will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 11 am to noon.
