Brandywine improves to 9-2 with win over Colts

COMSTOCK — Senior Emily Erwin came up one 3-pointer short of tying the school record in Brandywine’s 53-31 rout of host Comstock in BCS Athletic Conference girls basketball action Thursday night.

Erwin hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points as the Bobcats improved to 9-2 on the season.

Erwin now has 210 3-pointers, one shy of the school record of 211 held by Carlie Newman.

Brandywine led 22-2 after one quarter of play.

Both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter as the Colts scored all five of the points in the period. The Bobcats were 0-of-4 from the foul line in the quarter.

Brandywine led 22-7 at halftime.

The Bobcats pours in 21 third quarter points to take a 43-24 advantage into the final eight minutes of play.

Makenna Hartline led Brandywine with 14 points, 22 rebounds and four steals, while sister Michaela Hartline finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Jaleesa Garner had six assists and four steals to go with along with six points.

Daisy Ansel was the lone Comstock player to reach double figures as she led the Colts with 11 points.
