Athlete Showcase: Niles’ Cade Stephenson

Cade Stephenson is a junior on the Niles wrestling team.

 

What has been one of your greatest

accomplishments as an athlete?

CS: Being a regional qualifier in wrestling as a sophomore.

What has been one of your biggest

disappointments as an athlete?

CS: Losing in the blood round of regionals.

What has been a hardship in your life?

CS: Losing my grandpa.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CS: My dad, because he always pushes me to be better.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

CS: Right before a match.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CS: Tripping over the mat.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

CS: Going to the YMCA and working out.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CS: Ping pong.

Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?

CS: My dad, because he is always sore after watching me wrestle because he’s always moving in the stands.

How would you give away $50,000?

CS: I would give the money to Five Pines Ministries where I am a counselor at their summer camp.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CS: The Penn State wrestling team.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CS: Have a job.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CS: Going through two hours of practice every day just for a six-minute match.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CS: I would change the out-of-bounds rule.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

CS: That I am a hard worker.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

CS: Learning a backflip. Yes.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CS: My friend doing a front flip off the wall.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CS: Hunting, because it teaches me to provide.
