Southwest Michigan to host horticulture days

The Michigan Grape Society and Michigan State University Extension in partnership with Lake Michigan College will host the annual Southwest Michigan Horticultural Days conference Feb. 3 and 4 at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center, which is located at 2755 E. Napier Ave., in Benton Harbor.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. both days and all educational sessions begin at 9 a.m.  The Feb. 3 general session will feature presentations and updates on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), an update on labor issues, update on MAEAP, and a presentation on understanding NAP and TAP.

There will be educational sessions on tree fruit both days, vegetable production and wine grapes Feb. 3, and blueberries and all grapes on Feb. 4.

The event also features a trade show and raffle.  Restricted use pesticide recertification credits have been requested for all educational sessions.

Registration is $60 at the door and includes lunch for both days.

Early registration is $45 and must be postmarked by Jan. 25.
