Community Mills is expanding.

The Cassopolis business, which has been a full-service agriculture center since the late 1940s, also includes a retail store to also serve gardeners, small animal owners, outdoor enthusiasts and the casual shopper, is moving its chemical and fertilizer operation into the village at 611 South O’Keefe St.

The building has been expanded and bays have been added for fertilizer. The expansion allows customers the ability to get all their needs in one location.

“This has been quite the process to get the expansion going,” Lori Whitmeyer said. “But the goal is to provide convenience and ease to local growers when it comes to providing them with fertilizer and chemical needs for their growing season. When feedback is given from customers, they are pleased with the transition and look forward to the process that is in place to better serve their needs.”

Community Mills offers bulk fertilizer, chemicals and inputs along with tender delivery services, custom spreading, spraying and application.

The chemicals and fertilizer services are not the only expansion going on at Community Mills.

The company recently expanded its feed product to include Ranger Pure Line.

Ranger Pure Line is made with all non-GMO grain. Within the line, Community Mills offers swine feed that is all natural and non-GMO in prestart, 14-percent, 16-percent and 18-percent protein options.

The chicken feed is available in 16-percent layer mash and 18-percent layer mash.

The line will add broiler chicken feed that includes grower and finishing feed in the spring.

Whole corn and cracked corn will also be available in the Ranger Pure Line.

“Creating this line of feed has taken research, time and determination by the staff to make this available to our customers that prefer non-GMO feed for their animals,” Whitmeyer said. “Look for the non-GMO feed and grain with the blue tag now available in the store. Our non-GMO corn is grown locally by Griner Farms.

“Knowing where our grain comes from is greatly important to the success of their products. Our knowledgable staff has been educated on the process and can help in all area when it comes to questions from our customers about our new Ranger Pure Line.”

Community Mills is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
