Kenneth Junior Barker passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at the age of 88.

Kenneth was born in Hartford City, Indiana on May 8, 1927, the son of the late Kenneth L. Barker and Martha Pauline (Blakely) Barker. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. during World War II.

He retired from Eaton Manufacturing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dowagiac.

He was a do it yourselfer who loved tinkering with things around the house and working in his yard. Most of all, he enjoyed anything having to do with operating ham radios and was involved with the Kalamazoo and Cass County Emergency Ham Radio Operators.

Kenneth also spent more than 50 years researching the Barker heritage through relatives in the US & UK. Kenneth is survived by four children, Nate (Jackie) Barker, Terry (Sandra) Barker, Barry Barker and Yolanda (John) Haggard; two brothers, Gene (Maxine) Barker and Jerry (Janet) Barker; one sister, Betty (Robert) Webster-Maddron; Eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews .

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and six siblings.

Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007.

The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., officiated by Members of the Masonic Lodge #10 and Rev. James Dyke. Committal service with full military honors will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
