The dancers with MKSOD’s Positively Dance troupe will be showing audiences the true meaning of the holidays, as they present “The Spirit Of Christmas” show Saturday at Dowagiac Middle School.

The show, held every other year by the dance studio, will feature the 35 members of Positively Dance from MKSOD’s trio of studios located in Dowagiac, Niles and Decatur. They will be joined by 63 guest dancers for the performance, as well as three drummers and several actors and actresses from Dowagiac Union High School and the middle school. One the guest performers is a foreign exchange student from the Czech Republic, who will demonstrate a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon piece.

The program will tell the story of a child who sets out to discover the true meaning of Christmas, with her journey described through song and dance. Various types of genres will be on display Saturday, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, clogging, modern, lyrical, acro and hip hop.

There are two showings on Saturday, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students, and can be purchased ahead of time from one of the MKSOD studios, a Positively Dance member or at the door before the show.

The troupe will also host a basket raffle during the event, with tickets sold at each showing. The final drawing will take place at the 6 p.m. show; people do not need to be present to win.
