Buchanan junior Franki Strefling was named Class B third team All-State by the Michigan High School Volleyball Coaches Association.

Strefling was also All-Region and first team BCS Athletic Conference All-Red Division.

Strefling, who has verbally committed to Eastern Michigan University, led Buchanan to the Class B District championship this past season.

She had 62 aces, 720 kills, 74 blocks, served 93 percent and had 535 digs.

In 2014, Strefling was honorable mention All-State, All-Region and first team All-BCS. In 2013, she was All-Region and All-Lakeland Conference.

“Franki has been a tremendous impact player the last three seasons at Buchanan,” Buchanan coach Lisa Holak said. “She has helped lead our team her three years to an unprecedented 133-22 record, helping break not one but two school records in season wins. Franki has also broke the kill season record and is on track to break the career kill record.

“Franki is a top notch all-around athlete and has the potential to control any game with her play. We are extremely proud of her work ethic and dedication to Buchanan volleyball. Franki is always a threat to any team with her attack and defensive play. She is a very special player.”

Strefling was not the only Buchanan player to earn first team All-Red Division honors.

Also selected were Taylor Strauss, Britta Mollberg, Jade Mosier and Taylor Reed.

Alex Tobler was an honorable mention selection.

Brandywine’s Emily Erwin and Oliva DePriest were honorable mention All-Red Division picks.
