Robert Stewart Palmer, 66 of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015.

Robert was born on Aug. 8, 1949, to Shelby and Margaret Palmer. In 1995, he married Jill Rohlfs. He was a Niles High School graduate. Robert was a U.S. Army Green Beret and he played the drums for many bands in the Michiana area. He retired from Conrail after working as an engineer there for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jill; son, Robert Palmer; daughters, Ashley Palmer and Kelly Palmer; stepdaughter, Leah Wait; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many dear friends.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be planned for the spring at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com.
