A Niles man was injured when his vehicle crashed into a tree Wednesday afternoon in Cass County.

William Eugene Perrin, 25, was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital by ambulance after the accident, according to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident occurred in the area of Oil City Road south of Monette Street in Jefferson Township, northeast of Edwardsburg, at approximately 2:15 p.m.

An investigation found that Perrin was traveling south when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Alcohol does appear to be a factor in this crash but Perrin was wearing his seatbelt, the sheriff’s department is reporting.

Assisting deputies at the scene was Life Care Ambulance service and the Edwardsburg Fire Department.

This accident remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
